Melbourne Cafes Sunday Brunch Out and About

Sunday’s Brunch 2.0 – 1000 Pound Bend

Thousand Pound Bend Melbourne –  361 Little Lonsdale St, Melbourne VIC

Now I didn’t go here on a Sunday, I didn’t go with friends and have a grand ole time but I owe this café a mention for sure. For some reason I’ll never understand my laptop freezes every time I connect to my Wifi at home.

All the blogging I do, I do from this little corner of this café. Yes, Very J.K Rowling-eske (I wish) but I do need to let you all in on this little slice of heaven in café form in the middle of Melbourne CBD.

Located down a little side street and nestled in an old warehouse is 1000 Pound Bend. With excellent coffee, a great soundtrack playing all the time, a simple but satisfying menu and a Harry Potter reference as you enter, this is my kind of place.

It’s literally across the road from my work so I can be found here most mornings and it’s a great excuse for me to have a delicious breakfast because we all know that’s what I’m about.

One day a friend met me for a coffee and ordered the Avocado, Mushrooms and rocket on sourdough. That was it for me, I don’t know why I never saw this on the menu but this was basically me in breakfast form.

Toasted crunchy sourdough toast with the freshest avocado, sautéed field mushrooms and rocket dusted with dukkah w/ feta and lemon. I’ve found my calling. Needless to say I now eat that when I have breakfast here and $13 a pop isn’t too bad.

Some fun facts: 1000 Pound Bend makes a great use of their large warehouse out the back. Normally its ‘Laptop Land’ with cheap coffee, lots of tables and lots of smart people typing furiously around you.

Other days it gets transformed into an art gallery, markets with sales of cool brands e.g Herschel, Stationary and lots of other stuff.

Come 5pm this place turns into a funky bar and does basic burgers and delicious drinks, Friday and Saturday night it is pumping and sometimes they do a no-lights disco where you dance your heart out in the dark like no one is watching.

It’s a great all rounder so if you’re ever in the CBD and after a good place to eat, relax and feel really cool this is the place. There’s always something going on.

Are there any other Melbourne CBD places that are hidden gems? Hit me up, I’m always keen for a new place to try out. Let me know if you go there 🙂

I thought this might be a good place to case while I’m in Melbourne, only it would appear they are undergoing renovations. Back to the drawing board.

Any HP reference is enough to get me in the door! Theres a great balance of Students, creatives and people just there to relax it’s a great atmosphere. I hope you find a similar place! (p.s I can’t work from home at the moment so I am slightly jealous!)

This sounds like the best (BEST) place to hang out 🙂 Love the HP reference! I wish I had a place like this near my work/home. I usually go to the library to work on my blog if I’m tired of working from home, but nowadays it’s full of students revising for their exams, so it’s not that inspiring 😉 Laptop land with coffee sounds like the greatest concept of all time; I’ve never seen a place like that here. Maybe I’ll just have to start looking 🙂 Lovely photos, as always!

It’s great! It depends what time of the day I go there, any time after about 1pm and Its difficult but I do get inspired by the hustle bustle around me.

What a great place to work or people watch. I wish I could work in a cafe but I find everything so distracting! 😛
