Eat Around Melbourne Melbourne Cafes Sunday Brunch Out and About Things to do

Sunday Brunch 1.0 – Argos Loves Company

One of the main ideas that influences Dancing through Sunday is to be able to enjoy eating healthily and cheaply at home so you can afford to enjoy doing social things like a Sunday brunch. I’ve decided to start a weekly post dedicated to Melbourne’s well known café scene and some of my personal favorites along with new cafes I’ve tried out. Thoughts?

My first place is a sweet little café called Argo Loves Company on Brunswick St. I accidentally stumbled upon this place whilst waiting for my laundry to dry at the Laundromat next door and haven’t looked back. Its eclectic charm is exactly what you’d expect from a Melbourne café and the food on offer was top notch. Nothing too far from the typical breakfast menu you’d find anywhere these days but they don’t need to add a single thing.

I went there with 3 friends for breakfast and Tessa and I shared smashed avocado on sourdough with crumbled feta and cherry tomatoes & corn fritters with salsa, sour cream and guacamole. Both were delicious and generous servings but I think the one thing that shines from Argos is their scrambled eggs. Perfectly folded with chives and a relish on the side, they are perfection in scrambled form.

The coffee is up to scratch and the décor is far from boring; old authentic cooking equipment hung throuhout the kitchen, many old interesting books and encyclopedias and 100’s of pictures of people with their pups (Argos is Ulysses beloved pooch).

Reasonably priced (both meals were under $15), relaxed atmosphere, happy staff and an impressive selection of pastries and sweets, Argos wins a spot in my top 10 places to go. Argos Loves Company 149 Brunswick St, Fitzroy.

Let me know if you go there or if you have any other places you love to go.

Looks like a great place! I’d love one of those old school kitchen scales in my own kitchen 😉
